Age Verification

How does the Danish law affect online sales of alcohol and tobacco?

The law requires online retailers to implement a digital age verification systes to ensure customers are either 16 years old (for beverages with alcohol content between 1.2% and 16%) or 18 years old (for beverages above 16% alcohol content, tobacco, tobacco substitutes, and herbal snoking products).

This aligns online sales with existing in-store age verification requirements.

What must I do as an online retailer to comply with the Danish age verification law?
You must implement a digital age verification system that effectively verifies the buyer's age at the time of purchase.
What is an age verification system?
It's any IT system that can electronically verify the customer's age in accordance with established age limits.
What are the consequences of not complying with the Danish age verification law?
Retailers may face fines, and severe or repeated violations are considered an aggravating factor.

Danish MitID

Can I collect users' addresses with MitID verification?
Yes!

"Address Lookups" lets you collect verified legal addresses as part of the standard MitID verification experience.

Can I prevent MitID phishing attacks?
MitID has become a target of phishing attacks, but you can minimize the risk.

Learn how to protect your users from phishing attacks →

How does MitID QR code and app switch work?
Desktop users will have to scan a QR code with the MitID app during verification. This proves that they are physically in front of the screen and helps prevent phishing attacks.

Mobile users will see an "Open MitID app" ("Åbn MitID app") button that automatically redirects them to the app to complete the verification process.

Learn more about QR code and app switch →

How do I integrate Swedish BankID with Idura?
Simply configure a standard protocol already available in your platform (OpenID Connect). You don't need prior knowledge of the proprietary BankID API.

Learn more about OpenID Connect →

Yes!

We support both the BankID app and file-based BankID.

On mobile, we can also redirect users directly to the BankID app without a QR code to scan.

How do I migrate an existing user database to BankID?

You have two options:

  1. Match users by their social security numbers (if you have those on file)

  2. Ask users to do a double authentication to combine the old login with the new BankID one.

Can I integrate BankID with QR code?
Yes!

You can implement BankID with QR code to meet the requirements of Secure Start and protect ýour users from phishing attacks.

Norwegian BankID

How can I use Norwegian BankID with my existing auth provider like Auth0 or Okta?
We have step-by-step guides for adding Norwegian BankID to popular authentication providers.

See our BankID + Auth0 guide →

See our BankID + Okta guide →
